About FA Cole
F.A. Cole is a globally recognized FGM survivor advocate, author, educator, and speaker whose work transforms trauma into purpose. As the founder of the FA Cole Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, she is dedicated to restoring dignity and hope to women and girls affected by gender-based violence, in Sierra Leone and beyond. Her mission is rooted in prevention, advocacy, and survivor-centered support that breaks cycles of silence and harm.
A survivor of female genital mutilation and rape, F.A. Cole uses her voice to illuminate an issue too often hidden in the shadows. Through storytelling, education, and public speaking, she raises awareness, inspires change, and creates pathways to healing for survivors around the world.
F.A. Cole is also a spokesperson for clitoral restorative surgery. She openly shares her personal journey of physical and emotional restoration, offering hope to women seeking healing. While she encourages survivors to explore all available options, she stresses the importance of thorough research and informed decision-making before pursuing surgery.
Her advocacy extends into legislative spaces, where she has worked with lawmakers to support bills that criminalize FGM and protect girls in vulnerable communities in the U.S. She serves on the board of director of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation, ensuring survivor voices remain central to the organization’s mission. She has also co-led trainings for law enforcement, school administrators, and healthcare professionals to strengthen prevention and response efforts.
F.A. Cole is the author of two deeply impactful books – "Distant Sunrise – The Strength in Her Pain to Forgive" and "The Children Who Never Were." As a poet, mentor, and educator, she continues to champion truth-telling, resilience, and liberation.
Guided by faith and committed to justice, F.A. Cole stands as a vessel of healing and a steadfast voice for survivors of FGM across the globe.
